Sunscape Farms 2019 CSA FAQ

Thanks for your interest in our 2019 CSA! Please refer to the FAQ's below and if you have any further questions, please contact us at courtney@sunscapefarms.com.

Will there be both Fruits and Vegetables in the CSA?

Over the course of the season, the produce you receive will be approximately 30% fruit and the rest vegetables. There is a great mix of each and you will enjoy the excellent variety!

How do I sign up for a Sunscape CSA share?

CSA signups open in February 2019. To purchase a Sunscape CSA share, choose one of the options listed below.  Note that you can either pay in full or pay $100 with your application and the remainder by July 15.

  • Online - You can purchase a share by credit card online here.

  • By Mail - You can purchase a share by check by downloading and mailing the application found here.

  • In Person - When our Creek St. Stand and Maiden Lane stands open on May 1st, you can stop by anytime during open hours to pick up an application and pay with cash, check or credit card. Note that certain pickup days may be sold out by then.

Shares can be split between up to two families, each recieving a membership card. Please note that the sharing families will split the share up themselves, and can take turns picking up.

Where are the CSA pickup locations?

On your online or paper application, you choose which of the following locations is closest to you:

Sunscape Farms (Penfield)

1416 Creek St

Rochester, NY 14625

Sunscape Farms (Greece)

1530 Maiden Ln

Rochester, NY 14626

When does the CSA start?

Our CSA season starts in mid-June with the strawberries and other early produce. Warm and sunny weather brings an earlier start date, whereas colder and cloudier weather pushes the date later. If you signed up already, you will recieve advance notice of the first pickup day via email.

Which days are pickup days?

On your online or paper application, you'll choose a particular pickup day on which you will come to your chosen pickup location for your box. Some pickup days sell out.

  • Pickup day options at Creek St are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays from 1pm - 7pm.

  • Pickup day options at Maiden Ln are Tuesdays or Wednesdays, from 1pm -7pm.

If you need to change your pick-up day, you can contact us ahead of time at courtney@sunscapefarms.com.

What if I can't pick up my box?

If you are not able to pick up your box, you can choose to have a friend or family member pick it up for you. They will only need your full name to pick up your box and will need to sign for your box in your place.

The other option is to donate your box to a needy family. Sunscape Farms supports local charities and food pantries and if you contact us ahead of time, we will find a family to whom we'll donate your box.

Should I return my empty box?

We will provide you with a collapse-able box. Please return it so we can sanitize it and reuse it! Thanks for helping us take care of the Earth!

Will I know what will be in this week's share ahead of time?

Yes! For your planning convenience, we send out a weekly CSA newsletter via email. The newsletter will list what you should expect to see in your box that week along with some recipes focused on the produce in that week's box!

Allergies?

We allow up to 2 item exchanges per week, as a last resort for those with allergies or who absolutely can't use or give away a certain item. A staff member will help you exchange the item for one of equal value from our farm market.

Bonus!

Remember, each half or full share CSA Member will receive a CSA Member Card that gives them 10% off additional purchases at the Creek St. stand for the ENTIRE season! That includes fall decor and Christmas trees that we offer after the CSA ends!
